I truly believe that I've come up with a concept that will break the Fiero based car into a whole new market.
It is a design that will be instantly identifiable, yet will not try to look like any existing car.  Interested?  I'd like to show my design to people who actually have the capability of making the ideas into reality.

Think Hot Rod. Think retro. Think Kustom.

Interested?

Well Stimpy;

The cars, I am sure will have appeal to someone out there as everyone has their own tastes.  Smiley

However, if I am reading this post right and you want to take the Fiero rebodies in a new direction, then I would suggest getting a side view of a Fiero and see where all your lines match up to a stock Fiero so you have a better idea of where all the break points will be to work around or modify on the Fiero.  Besides the roof line which is an obvious one....

If you have a full on side shot of your ideas, post them and maybe someone on here can Photoshop them together with a Fiero and you can see where your points of contrention will be.

I think anything is possible, just a matter of how much work and what is left of the original Fiero.  Look at the Lambos that pretty much only have the lower half of the tub and some of the front frame left by the time all the framing is put in.

God luck

Don,

Here is the original of the Mercury. I used a picture of my old 1986 GT. I lost the original pic and only have this one with Subaru wheels photoshopped on.

I used this pic off of eBay of an 88 Formula for the "58".

All the hard points are covered. The roofline is intact, the cowl is unchanged, the wheelbase, windows, all unaltered from factory. The roofline looks much lower due to the beltline running higher over the bottom of the side glass, just like like them Eye Tal Yan cars. What's left of the original Fiero is completely up to the builder, and that would be mechanical. Structurally there would be no need to change anything. The chrome bumpers would bolt to brackets mounted to the existing factory bumpers, which would remain intact.

I did think about this a little bit. I do have a Fiero.

It is the original Series 2 3800 Supercharged Fiero. Documented.

Okay;

So you have already done that part.  Excellent.

Well, best thing to do is get out the expanding foam and starting out the shapes.

One thing to think about though is that the Fiero has all that heat coming outfrom behind the cab so you will need to design something into the body to help channel that heat away if you don't have the hood vents like stock or most kits.

Also, the Black kit has a very short nose on it so there would probably need to be work done on the radiator area up front as that stuff is further forward than what it looks like you have in your rendering.

Good Luck.

This is just my opinion but WHY Huh The Fiero is rear engine car and just buy a merc and chop and slam it you do not need a donor for a hot rod. I got all exited thinking I was going to see something new.

Don, although the rear "greenhouse" looks like it extends over the engine, the stock rear window is used and the effect is like that of the "fastback" GT. The vents and decklid from a coupe bodystyle should be modifyable to retain as is.

The Black Cherry actually needs to have the front wheel moved back. I noticed that after I posted the before and after pics. So the length is right. The stock bumper would be used but the energy absorber could be chucke to give it a more bobbed look.  I'm by no means a Photoshop pro, I'm teaching myself how to do this as I go along. I do have some great ideas for the front and back, but they are more pen and ink and my scanner is fried from the cat making it her bed. So I appreciate your encouragement. Now I've just got to get a Fiero that I can take apart and cover in foam.

i think the real point of this thread will become lost in the arguing. this forum is supposed to be family-friendly in general so just watch what you're saying.

you have an attitude problem though. if you cant answer questions without trying to insult someone or take criticism, then what are you even posting here for?

on a more productive note, you could get a cheap hotrod fibergalss body and cut it up to make it fit the fiero, if you can find what you are looking for.

Some people do think differently.  That's what is unique about any machine.  But in my opinion the comment about the Cherrios is out of line.  Why not go back and modify your posts to get that part out so we can focus on the custom ideas rather than anything negative? Just another .02 worth.

After all of the name calling I found a Lead sled replica on a shortened rear engine chassis. I guess it has been done before.....
