The first time I set my Sterling kit car on fire wile driving was when the ignition switch shorted out. (there is more to this story, but not needed for this thread) Instead of spending the money to buy VW ignition switch, I purchased a key switch, rocker switch, and momentary push button. The key switch turns on the rocker switch and accessories. The rocker switch then turns on the momentary push button that is hooked up to the starter. The whole thing cost under $5 in 1995. I found a use tractor push start button that is 1" in diameter and has the metal ring around it so you do not accidently hit it.
For the VW bug, this was a very easy install. I have no idea about any other car.

Just one observation - surly if you do a plate on the steering wheel like DNA has done, the thing will be sticking out at the back about an inch and a half with the wires too. Very unsightly IMO unless theres a cover or housing that can be put over it.
You can also have some that will fit directly into the cigarette lighter.

some japanese late models with multi controls steerings might helps...
those with air bags, control switches and such...they have few lines conected to the bosch kit panels...just if there's a genuis to convert them for the start button and horn button...
