You're not going to find any kits for this. It's possible to accomplish, but the mechanism needs to first move the doors outward, away from the car, and then pivot up. You might be able to come up with something that swings them outwards and up (like a wing flapping). The Evoluzione II has doors like these.



I've seen a few cars customized with "scissor" doors. I'll see if I can find some links.

I wrote a primer for door modifications on my site. It's not all inclusive but it can get you started.

IMO decah is overpriced ($1500) for the typical do-it-yourselfer. I guess supply & demand comes into play here.

Street Dreams sells hinge kits for a fair price and they look really good. I haven't heard anyone implementing them yet though.

Nice Mustang pic InfinateVision. I wonder if the doors really close by themselves or if they just looped the gif. I'm thinking the latter. At the least, it would be very expensive to get a motor in there that would have enough torque to close the doors since it is going against the struts. On second thought, those doors might not have sturts and may use some sort of rotaitonal spring. Interesting...

Oh, I agree... you would need a motor to move it up and down. I just thought that there might be a rotational spring in the joint that counteracts the moment/weight of the door. Kind of like on garage doors, where the long spring at the top helps pull the door up and eases the starin on the motor.

I've seen a kit on a an eclipse that works just like this mustang, but it wasn't motorized. Basically you had to add a 'popper' that would pop the door out a few inches. I remember the guy saying he spent a fortune. I imagine the mustang was much more expensive.
