since its going to be cover by material, i think the less expensive way would be the way to go Grin right?
U are right at a point...some center console might look good from outside...but gaps every where when they were to put together...like the covers before trim and after trim...which might cost u to tear the upholsers out and trim again to fit perfetly....
Another point is, will they work like the authentic one? And when u open the cover, will the inside look like the authentic piece? That is why we need an authentic piece at the first time and a perfectly and carefully done moulkd is important...not everyone have the patience like hughes, IKR or murcie-me...
Some here might have the skill but dont have the time to make them to available for every one...
As for carbon, we might want to see what hughes can do with them...

Thats why i'm so thirsty for updates picts from hughes...
Guess i'm not the only one here...lol...

SC,

I am currently working on a nice update on the "Aerospace How To" thread... I am sorry for the lack of updates, but please bare with me... I am keeping to my schedule, and it is rather tight.

NOTE:
I will be making a complete set of aerospace grade production composite molds for this interior that will be used for any and all carbon fiber parts that anyone will require.

What I was suggesting however is that I could make a second set of molds (again, cost on me) for high production fiberglass parts, made for the builders out there that would rather cover the items in leather as opposed to a carbon finish.  As far as fitment and "gaps", the pieces will be made off of the authentic items and I would personally trim every part, so there wouldn't be any question that every piece would be finished and ready for upholstery... just at a greatly affordable price (the heart of this industry).

Would this be something that you builders would be interested in?

Hughes, if your mould is good for carbon making, i believe it will be no sweat(or more than good)to lay normal glass on them to make fibreglass product....please dont waste that $ and time for another mould for fibre finish....
yes...kit cars always came out with the idea of "low budget"...but this is only a thought after calculating the rough figure to complete one before the built start...but majority will change their mind to go for better demand when they are half way done with their built...(i got these reading murci-me's post...but after built had start,  $ top up at $ while built time draging longer and longer...something like that)...

but i can see things has started to change now..even a kit car is closer to perfect where most
of the builders demand an authentic look...just the matter of time for them to squeeze a little more
for a perfectly done interior compare to back 5-8 years where builders mostly aim for the exterior
but all dead give away when looking at the interiors...

ps:alright...hope to watch some lovely bits on your HOW-TO thread soon...yeee-ha!

Dirt cheap is relative.  Compared to $400,000 anything we do is dirt cheap.  The ebay g28 I have has been used as an example of a "bad interior" and rightfully so.  I want to upgrade to something not as obvious.  The upholstery is awful and sebring door panels were bolted on.  I want to upgrade to proper shapes and quality upholstery for now, with authentic parts added as they come available and I can afford them.  I'm already changing out spacers for Held suspension with 13" brakes and replacing the transaxle with a 4t65ehd, and I want to see an end in sight.  I'm one of the least well off persons here so it is harder for me to do it right but I'm trying.  As with any custom car there will always be something I want to change or upgrade, but I'm just not able to throw unlimited money at it.

SC,

Thank you for your insight of how builders are now becoming more involved with authentic details... this is probably the reason that I am getting contacted for so many pieces.

Please note about the molds, that the composite aerospace molds that I am making are far superior to any standard fiberglass mold that you may be used to.  They will have integrated vacuum compression valving, extended chromate flanging, and require exacting composite template cuts for proper carbon layup.  For this reason, I will not allow any production polyester fiberglass pieces to touch them.  These types of molds aren't cheap, but they are flawless, and are a necessity to perform the level of work that I will be contributing into the composite panels.

I hope you understand, these are like the super car of production molds, so if builders would like exacting fiberglass interior pieces, I will make a second set of molds specifically for that reason.
