SC,
Your anticipation is expected... as I am just as excited, but I regret to inform you that I am playing a waiting game. I put in a $700+ order for the materials needed to begin the process, and am just waiting for the shipment to come in. The tooling that I will be making will be aerospace quality production tooling, capable of over 4000+ part pulls with out any issues or repairs. The tooling will be made of an assortment of carbon composite materials along with other advanced materials.
The other thread that I started "Aerospace Composites how-to" will be where the process is developed... and the interior components will be in the spotlight!

Hughes.....about that other thread. Now I don't mean to be rude, but if you want us to remain faithful to the thread, you are going to have to post at least twice a day! BTW......have you recieved foam yet? Mike

Turmite,
I am sorry for the lack of posts, I didn't plan that my materials would take so long to get here. Once the materials come, I assure you that there will be quite a few posts.
Hey, at least I left it off with Safety, the most important post of all~
-Hughes
PS... the foam came in and it looks good! I need to touch up a few spots, and round the top edge, but it looks like your machine works!
If I have any projects for you, we may need to use a foam that is less porous, but other than that... you have proven what you have to offer, and it is very exciting!

Some kiddo calculation, for example, steering column is USD200. if there's four person, devide by 4 is $50 each to get that authentic column. Top up some for carbon and such material cost for Hughes to make each member one....errmm...say another another $150 max(for member only)......might be less...i dont know. Hughes still working on his cost to make one out... No, he don't charge us that mould or his sweat's he spent... total $200...wow! ... with 200 or less, u get to have an authentic carbon murcie steering column! ... just that easy...see? now i'm good in sales... come on..join us fast before price grow up....i saw ebay priced a pair of carbon door sill at USD800... imagine if there's 10 member in our group! LOL...now our member's grown to 4...soon to be 5...

Hello to All,
I would like to pull together a more serious outlook on this authentic interior project that is about to explode in progress and members requested orders. In all truth, cost seems to be THE largest issue with replicating your favorite vehicle from scratch. It is because of cost that this industry exists... building our $400,000+ sports cars for $70K or less. The soul of this forum and the members here in seem to thrive on getting the absolute best quality product for an absolutely dirt cheap price.
With this in mind... I have a very viable option for all of you members awaiting this interior progress. I will be able to offer you the authenticity without a large price tag, if you feel that it would suit your needs?
What I am thinking is making a set of interior production molds to make pieces as cost effective as possible. For many, a simple fiberglass piece in the authentic shape is all you require, as you will just take the pieces directly to your interior artist and have a perfect interior. The fiberglass will be pre-trimmed by myself, so all the builder would need to do is take the product directly to the interior shop... no fuss, no problems, just a perfect fit.
I am still going to be making an aerospace composite set of molds, but they will only be used for a solid carbon fiber piece. The issue with this is that the carbon pieces will have a nice price tag with it, as aerospace grade carbon composites and the finishing of every panel to display the carbon correctly are not "cheap" by any means, and even with my deals, still cost quite a bit.
So it is up to all of you... the builders, do you want me to make a set of production molds for fiberglass panels, still exacting in finish, but A FAR LESS EXPENSIVE final product, pre-trimmed, and ready for your upholster?
Let me know your thoughts... I am here to help out the community, -Hughes

since its going to be cover by material, i think the less expensive way would be the way to go right?
