EEExoic, what has to happen for you to try to come up with a solution for the OEM controls?

Do you need the actual control?  Do you need a Fiero control as well?  Have you gottenone sent to you yet?  Are the specs posted enough? Do you need to know if will we pay you for your time?

A few of us really need your help and would like to take you up on your offer to figure out this dlemna.

Can you PM me or post what it is you need exactly at this point to move forward?

We can pony up and compensate you for your efforts as I know time is money or I can offer something towards my contributions to the cars.

We really need your help if you think you can help solve this nagging issue.

Your mod may even go into kitcar folklore, like the VDO gauge harness or something....You might even get your very own STICKY from ARI...imagine that!

Seriously though, I'll send you whatever you may need to get started.

Hi everyone, SEMA was last week and it sucked up alot of my extra time. I've got my scamatics and have been going over them trying to get us all threw this step. I've got quite a few sets of the Fiero control units but it would really help if I could barrow a OEM Ferrari setup. If anyone has a OEM Ferrari unit and would let me use it to trace the circuits
that would be a huge help.

Oh Yeah, It would def be easier, but far from the OEM look. The only thing that is going to be tricky is the actual temp control, where the Fiero uses a cable to run the heater box and the newer units use vacumn or a electronic silenoid.
This part is going to take the most time. Guess I'll just trace the circuits in the Fiero and everyone can wire the units they preferr. The HI/LO motor control.. and the A/C , Defrost is pretty straight forward. We may have to use a GM heater box controler to run the heater box it self

@ $20 I could live with the non-OEM look as compared to $600 for OEM

If I sent you the S10 control, could you modify it for me?

I could build a harness that would be labeled wire fer wire. As fas as modifying the until there really isn't anything to mod other than test each run to make sure it works. The harness would plug into the controls on the back of your unit and be sodiered into the Fiero harness. Let me know what you think.

Im just really ignorant of this kinda stuff...

I am going to buy the S10 control, you just send me what I need to make it work and tell me what I owe you.

I thought you may have needed the S10 control to define its pin outs but if you dont just send me what I need.

Pete: No.. I do need the S10 unit, to trace the circuits and run them to make sure they work. I meant I wouldn't need to mod the actual controls. Meaning I would change the look of them. But yes I do need the unit to figure out where each wire needs to hook up. So If you want to send me the unit when you receive it that'll work out great.

So would you be selling just the wiring harness after you get petes because Pete I agree with you on this one. I like the idea of spending $20 and though it might not be perfect it is a huge step forward from the fiero controls. Please keep me updated David and thanks for all your help in this topic because maybe now we will have an option to stick into rods console. Good find Pete, I think I might just owe you one!!!

Hey everyone I was thinkin and wondering if there was any more gm cars ac controls that you knew of that is a little closer to the orginal. I like the s10 controls except for the ridges on them. Just a thought feel free to add your input.

I didnt look at everything out there but these controls are flat and GM.  I scanned thru a lot of stuff out there and I thought these would be a close fit.

You can always swap out the knobs I suppose but the ridges dont bother me much.

Stang tells me that it would be near impossible to make Ferrai controls work becasue they are electronic...

Are the S10 controls non-electronic and why exactly would they be easier to mod than Ferrari if they are not mechanical?

What is a heaterbox controller?  is there a part #?  can I get one from any yard, please explain fully what else is needed.

Stang, what are the dimensions of the OEM control box?  I'll find out the dims of the S-10 one to see how close it is to the oem and then ask Rob will it work.

And everyone out there, please post pics of controllers you find in your paths so we can find something closer if its out there, ten heads are better than one.

Heres a Dodge Dakota control that looks more Euro

OEM

Robs console

Photoshop of control set in the right way, re-knobbed and re-printed

OEM once again

Whit a little work, I think the S-10 controls are on point...opinions?
