I think it might partially have to do with the links pages too - Google ranks webpages based on the number of pages it links to/the number of pages linked to it. Before the Links section ( http://www.kitcar.ca/links ) was added there were no external links on the site (Except those in messages).

So, higher google ranking, more people coming.
