Got the gauge cluster today. My bike has 1066 miles but the old gauge cluster was too damaged to be useable. I bought this one off of eBay and the seller was unsure on the miles, but I lucked out this one had 1208 miles only a difference of 142 miles!!!! Pretty close huh? Talk about luck!

Thanks!! If the parts had all been here I would have been able to rebuild the bike in a weekend. Now onto cost. When its all said and done, with the whole rebuild, new tires and fluids, tags and dmv fees, I will be at about $3,600. The bike has 1066 miles and sold new 2 years ago for $9,499, and if I were to buy it locally used I would assume I would have to pay about $6,000-7,500 to get a bike like this with the miles and condition. So I am getting the bike for close to half price, of corse I had to put some blood sweat and tears in to it, but I am having fun!

I took the bike out for the first ride today! I didn't want to ride it too hard or go too far until I am sure there are no other problems. But it ran and rode great, and boy is this thing fast. Here is a short video of the first time out.

RUNDLC,
Thanks! I don't know how long I am going to keep it. I am still waiting on the fairings, they are taking a long time to arrive. But I will probably sell it at the end of the summer.
CdRsKuLL,
Thanks Bud! Yes I was very happy, but also a bit nervous. I was concerned that they may have been other problems with the bike I had missed and that they would show up when I was riding. But luckily nothing has showed up so far.

Thanks Ron!! I will try to not pull an Bob Roward (thank god he is doing better!). I am a careful rider and I don't enjoy stunts. But I do know that most likely its going to be another driver causing me to go down. I had a close call today with a guy coming out of his driveway super fast in a truck and he didn't see me, luckily I was able to gun the bike and avoid him. Well, today I installed the headlight with zip ties. I wanted other drivers to be able to see me better. I am still waiting for my fairings to arrive in order to install everything correctly. Right now my bike looks like what they call out here "street fighter" bikes, those are bikes without fairings that the riders do stunts etc on.

in 04 i did the same thing and bought a 02 gsxr 750 i found local on ebay.. at that time the 2 year old bike was still $7000 but i got mine for $2500. the owner had laid it down with only 5,000 miles and caused a very light rash then parked it for the 2 years. i bought it not running guessing that if it sat that long the injectors were probably just gummed up. so i pulled them, soaked them in carb cleaner and bam it was running great. Then i flipeed the bike at 70mph a year later braking my hip in 3 places and the foot peg went threw my foot. i was bed ridden for 6 weeks. I had aflac so i got a BIG paycheck that helped alot. i dont regret any part of my bike or even my wreck i just wish that i hadnt of had to walk the isle getting married on a walker.lol. good luck and be safe!
