jntramey:

When you really think about it, you almost need duct tape to keep your head from blowing apart. I think you and I have the same thought process on this topic. Time for a Scotch.

everyone i knew who had American Express always hinted but, never really said so that they didn't like them.  Whether its because you have to pay the balance all at once or other policies.   Don't know.  Just curious, say you charge $500 on the American Express up come up short at payment time.  Say you have only $400?  Whats the situation?.
I just paid my Direct Merchants Bank  Master Card and now they have it when you pay the payment goes in the next day not the same day.  I didnt look but, Im sure the are going to charge somewhere around $14 for the Express Payment for today.  I think thats a lot of BULL because I noticed with my Chase card they do the and the express fee for same day payment was $14.95 and I believe that even though perhaps your due date would be tomorrow and you pay today I noticed that it does get credited ......atleast sometimes for the same day.  I aint going to try any last minute payments anymore.  Can't trust what the heck might happen.  I also have a Citiflex line of credit which is basically a loan but, like a credit card account with 15.99 %.  They dont have a website yet but, you can pay over the phone so I was paying buy phone just to avoid using checks whenever possible.  Then BAM! now we charge a $14.95 fee or autopayment or whatever they call it.  All these companies are just out to rip you off.  Cant wait to pay off my wedding.
BTW don't you just love how banks say they dont charge you if you use your card with their atm (like chase card at a chase bank) so when your punching in your pin then the amount you want to deduct, you don't see the $2.00 charge at the atm but, they are more then welcome to charge you the $10 on your credit card bill. Angry Angry Angry.
Everyones better off just saving up the cash and doing it the old fashion way or save a good portion then if you got to charge it, maybe you can pay say half the balance the first payment.

Here is the result. I have an American Excess Gold card, if it is used as in the scenario your mentioned, I would be down to using cash. American Excess will drop you like a hot brake rotor.

Dave,

18 holes in Golf, 18 shots in a bottle of scotch.  See, there IS order in the universe and God knew we would be bad at golf. Grin

P.S. What was NOT advertised is that these jerks took BILLIONS in bonuses just prior to getting bailed out by Uncle Ben.  Guess what, they didn't have to give back those bonuses.  If you, or I filed for "reorganization" (basically these guys asked for $ to avoid filing BANKRUPTCY) you can bet your life those "bonuses" would be DEMANDED to be paid back.  Yet, in 2005 these same crooks got Congress to change the laws to make it dang near impossible for regular working people to qualify for bankruptcy.

Matthew 18:24-34

And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed ten thousand talents. But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made.  The servant therefore fell down before him saying "Master, have patience with me and I will pay you all."  Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave the debt.  But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying "pay me what you owe!"  So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying "Have patience with me, and I will pay you all."  And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt.  So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done.  Then the master, after he had called him, said to him,
"You wicked servant!" I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.  Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?"  And his master was angry and had him delivered to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.

Your right!
Instead of "the crooks got CONGRESS to...", perhaps it should have read "WHEN the crooks got TO congress..." Smiley

P.S. Thanks for the edit  Wink
