Solid works and Catia. Both learnt via uni. I find solidworks is much nicer to work with though catia appears to have more front end power with easy access to FEA etc. I am not fan of its user interface though.

Used rhino very briefly only the trial. Got annoyed because the trial would not let me do what i wanted to do because it was a trial version. Cant really say much more then that.

3dsmax is good for modeling but not for dimensions.

I have 3ds maya but not really used it, a friend of mine made a honda civic down the wheel tread in it. Not sure if it was dimensionally correct but it looked good.

I dont think its a case of any program being that much better then the others just what you are used too.

I have used AutoCAD for the last 8 years and am in the process of self-teaching myself 3D Studio 9, which might I add is quite difficult.........I agree with the above post about each one having pros and cons, but it's whichever you are comfortable with using.

3D modeling software that most of these cars are modeled in.

I use Rhino 4 as well, but am not such a good modeler. I haven't had the time to spend learning many of the needed skills to model cars. I  do use if to import models into for cnc carving though.
