Right at the bottom of the ebay page it said must be paid in full within 3 days, so I've booked a flight to Philadelphia tomorrow and then will drive it to Spokane Washington.  Any suggestions on the best most scenic route for a car like this.  I especially want GOOD roads.

You are exactly right and a mechanic would be a good idea.  I'll look into shipping but when I had my AD355 shipped from Johns place it took a long time and was a real pain.  I appreciate your concern and welcome more advice.  I've done stupid things before. and I've not been getting smarter with age.  I used to be a hot shot with machines but not anymore.  Still I think it's a pretty basic car, and I do still retain some mechanical ability.

You really shouldn't drive the vehicle back and if you don't want to ship the vehicle rent a trailer or a truck and drive it back yourself.  When I sold my countach a long time ago the buyer didn't want to spend the extra money to trailer the vehicle and decided to drive the vehicle home.  He lives a good 12hours away.  I had no doubt my countach would make the trip.  He left my place driving my countach home, it was a light rain when he left.  I advised him several times to please not to try and drive the car home.  The countach has many blind spots and being unfamliar with the vehicle driving on a highway in the rain would not be a good idea.  My countach was very seldom driven in the rain but my wipers worked fine.  Well after a few hours of driving the small pin that retains the end the wiper arm attaches to, snapped so the wipers stopped working.  The new owner called me asking if I could drive out to assist him, I told him at that point that's why I strongly suggested trailering the vehilce.  Well he decided now that he was going to drive the vehilce the rest of the way without wipers.  He eventually did make it home He did call me the next day and had informed me he had some kind of accident with the vehicle trying to merge on to a highway.  I felt so bad, all the time I spent in that vehicle and this guy in one day damaged it.

Just something to think about before you drive your new vehicle home, I would have never though a harden pin could break.

Look for 1988mustang at photobucket.  Not the mustang car.  That is the guys handle that listed it in july when it went for $44,600.00.  The winning bidder couldn't come up with the money.

Drive it from the East Coast to Spokane?Huh Huh Huh Huh
You would definately be adding anothers crazy thing to your aforementioned "stupid things list" you have done before... Wink
Find a good shipping company, you can get is shipped for a WHOLE LOT less than it would cost to drive it accross country. Not to mention the many types of imclement weather you will have to drive through, not being familiar with the roads etc. I think that would be ONE BIG headache... I believe you will REGRET making that decision.
By arranging shipping ... it will get to you in ONE piece and all you need is a little more patience and you will be enjoying this baby.
One word of advice might be to have the top covered some way somehow so as it is brought through all the imclement weather the interior will not get soaked. Cool
Good luck and keep us informed. Grin

If you would fly to Philly and buy a used, highly modified motorcycle, jump on it and drive cross country then you are up for it.  Otherwise ship it.

Oh, sorry the most important, congratulations, I hope you enjoy it, from the pics it looks like a good deal.

OK,  Not one person has said drive it, including the seller.  I'm soliciting bids from u-ship now.  Thanks for the help in avoiding what seemed to be a stupid mistake.

Congrats and make sure your shipper has an ENCLOSED trailer!!  Call Stewart Transport, they are in Phoenix az. they are a little expensive but YOU will get it on time and they ship replica EVERYDAY, I would not trust any other transporter.

Good luck
